Why are your rings sold as matched sets only?

In order to optimize and create the most precise shifting, we need to design the big ring and smaller rings as one. The 'timing' of the rings or 'clocking' is extremely important. It allows the big and small to always be in sync and alignment for the chain to move smoothly at the time you shift. This is the basis of our LevaTime ® shifting technology.

If the timing is off by incorrect mounting or you substitute in a different ring than the mated combo, the shift quality will degrade and problems can/will occur. Do NOT substitute any other ring type or tooth count into your Praxis matched pair.

What chain do you suggest for the best shifting?

Due to the amount of mixing and matching riders do with drivetrain components, shift performance is very subjective. That being said, for the best shifting experience we suggest using a Shimano, or KMC chain. The rings are also Campy 11 chain compatible when mounted on an aftermarket 110 or 130 BCD crank such as a Rotor/Cannondale/Specialized/LOOK/FSA crank.

The Big Ring chain catch pin sticks out too far and touches the back of my crank arm. What do I do?

Yep...being an aftermarket ring, we try to fit a bunch of different profile cranks arms.

If we make it too short, then that pin won't protect in case of over shift on some cranks with wider profile.

So we chose to go with a tad taller chain catch pin that people can simply file down if it does indeed touch the back of their crank arm. The vast majority of cranks out there all is perfect fit out of the box....but on just a couple model cranks out there, just file the chain catch pin down a touch and all is perfect.

When are other colors going to be available?

We wanted to focus first on black and black/silver as most customers just want that. Other colors will be decided upon in the future.

Will you be offering a road triple?

Yes, but it's going to be a while. We have to pick and choose what gearing to tool up for next, and the demand is greater for other combos right now. It's in our product road map for sure as we recognize the need, but it will be some time.

Will you be making Single Speed rings... both for Mountain and the hipsters crowd?

Yes...but it's going to be some time. We know people want track rings, single road rings for fixies, and 1X cyclocross rings. We've got a good-sized list of products we're going to work on...so it's just going to take time as we grow.

Will you be making replacement ROTOR "Q-Rings" or the Osymetric oval rings?

Our #1 priority is to provide the best shifting rings possible and Oval shaped rings just don't allow us to do that. We will not be making any "Oval Style Rings."

I have a LOOK bicycle with the their ZED crank, can I buy the custom Praxis made ZED Chainrings from you?

You want to call your local Authorized LOOK Dealer and they can help you with your purchase of the ZED custom forged rings. We are their vendor and just manufacture the custom rings for LOOK.

Will your BB30/PF30 Conversion Kit BB work on my Specialized "OSBB" road bike?

YES! We have a new version that is now compatible with their custom road "OSBB" frames—both Alloy AND Carbon shell.

Specialized MTB frames are standard PF30 and would use our MTB PF30 Conversion.

Can a SRAM GXP or Campy crank be used in your current Conversion BB?

No, our current conversion BB was designed for Shimano Hollowtech II cranks only. We are working on GXP and Campy specific versions for future release.

What cranks do your rings work with?

Basically any traditional 5 arm crank that is 110 compact or 130 standard BCD for road bikes. On the mountain side, the rings are made for a 4 arm 104/64 BCD and certain rings are also made for the 120/80 BCD. There are a few cranks our there that have custom mounting or BCD the rings do not mount on. Example: The Zipp Vuma Quad, Campy Cranks, and then the Extralite QRC-2 mounts the arm a bit rotated and timing can be compromised.

Do your rings work with the SRAM Quarq power system?

Per Quarq, the Compact 110BCD 52/36 and our Standard 130BCD 53/39 Classic model calibrate perfectly on the Quarq Power system.

Are the ring sets compatible with Campagnolo cranks?

Our rings do not mount to Campy's custom BCD as they have their own custom bolt circle/mount. We initially had plans to launch a ring set for Campy cranks/BCD, but will not be. However, our chainrings are 11sp compatible, so you can use our rings with a Campy 11sp drivetrain if the rings are mounted on a traditional 5-arm mount 110 or 130BCD crank. For example, you could use cranks by Specialized, LOOK, Cannondale, FSA, ROTOR, Quarq, etc. Many people use these cranks with our rings, with the rest of the drivetrain Campy 10 or 11.

Do your rings work on the current DuraAce 7900 crank?

Yes, they mount and work perfectly by using regular CR bolts. However, Shimano made the 6700/6750 and 7900 crank very integrated into their chainrings. Praxis rings mount and work perfectly, but they don't have the finished/integrated look as the stock Ultegra/Dura Ace rings do. For the Dura Ace Compact 7950 we do offer Integrated ring set kits for only this crank.

How do you mount your 2X Mtn Rings onto a SRAM XO/XX crank since your rings are not threaded like the SRAM XO/XX rings?

All you have to do is use a standard set of CR bolts. Our rings are made to work on a bunch of different 2X cranks and not just the SRAM XO/XX crank. That is why we didn't thread the actual ring. Just go to your local shop and buy some standard CR bolts and you're good to go.

Do your rings mount onto the new 2012 SRAM RED Crank?

No, The brand new 2012 Sram Red crank has a new custom mounting so that only their Red rings mount to it. Praxis road rings mount to all industry standard 5arm 130BCD or 110BCD.
